Autumn Term 2
What a busy term we have had in class 1. It all began with a mysterious egg appearing at school. It caused lots of excitement. We did lots of talking about the egg, finding out its measurements and making the creature we thought was inside it.
In English we have been looking at famous people. We have looked at Neil Armstrong, Tim Peake, Mary Anning and The Queen. We looked at how to use the internet to find information about them as well as looking in books. We found out why they were famous and about their lives. We learnt how to write fact files, reports, descriptions and letters. Come and look at our letters to The Queen in class 1. We finished off our topic on famous people with a Madame Tussauds homework event. It was great to see the children dressed as different famous people. We had neil Armstrong, The Queen, Marie Currie, Florence Nightingale, Mary Anning, Simon Cowell, Ant McPartlin and a cave man.
In Maths we have continued to look at numbers and making sure we are secure ordering numbers to 10 and 20 and looking at the value of the digits. In year 1 we have been adding, subtracting, problem-solving and learning about money. In reception we have been looking at adding 2 groups of objects together, learning the names of shapes and looking at when our birthday’s are.
Finally the term ended with lots of Christmas activities. We had our Nativity with class 2. We did lots of practising and then performed for our grown-ups. We did really well and Miss Philp was really proud of us.
