Autumn Term 2

Class two have been looking at research and using information texts this term. We have loved finding out all about Famous people such as Queen Elizabeth II, Mary Anning and Neil Armstrong. We used key question words ( who? what? when? where? why? and how?) to guide what we wanted to find out. We then looked at books and on  websites to find information and used our own writing skills to write about them, create interviews and share our information. You may have seen some of our writing on the wonderful writing wall.

We loved finding out all about our own choice of famous person for our home learning event. Mrs Bacon was most surprised at the number of famous people who came to join class two for the day.

In maths this term, class two have been practicing their addition and subtraction skills. We have been working with single digits to see how quickly we can remember key important facts, and have been using apparatus to work with two digit  numbers.

How many pairs to 10 and 20 can you remember?

We have been practicing counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and can now do this forwards and backwards.

We have also been practicing our detective skills to solve problems where there may be more than one solution. We have tried to work in logical ways to show we have found all possibilities. We are now moving onto word problems where we need to search the question for key number and key word clues to find out what we need to do.

Class Two loved planning and rehearsing the Christmas Nativity play this year with Class one . Our Narrators put on their best speaking voices and wowed the audience with their wonderful storytelling. Mary and Joseph played their parts brilliantly. There was a beautiful angel bringing news from above, a determined soldier and a very thoughtful Innkeeper who saved the day. The shepherds snuggled  round the fire to warm their toes in preparation for the long journey ahead and we had some very wise kings who looked superb as they travelled to Bethlehem to bring their fantastic gifts. We were also treated to two amazing solos. Well done everyone and a big thankyou to everyone who came to support us.

Take a look at our solo performances here
